Andy Ruiz Jr becomes the new heavyweight champion after conquering Anthony Joshua in a shocking upset in boxing match last night in New York, Madison Square.
Boxer Andy Ruiz Jr produced one of the biggest shocks in the history of heavyweight boxing to rip Anthony Joshua’s IBF, WBO and WBA world heavyweight titles from him.
In a fight at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Ruiz floored Joshua four times en route to a seventh-round stoppage and it was no fluke.
““Sorry I let my fans down, sorry I let my supporters down.
“Boxing’s a tough sport, I train hard, I stay dedicated, I just got beat by a good fighter. Good luck to him, but I’ve gotta bounce back. ,” said Joshua.
“It will be interesting to see how far he goes, but this is all part of the journey. He’s a champion for now, I shall return,” he added.
The Mexican-American dropped Anthony Joshua four times to make history as the first heavyweight champion from Mexico and end his opponent’s unbeaten streak.
“I just wanna thank God for giving me this victory. I just feel so good, this is what I’ve been dreaming about, I can’t believe I just made my dreams come true.
I just had to knock him down back. I’m a Mexican warrior, talking about the Mexican style, I just proved it.
“Of course [I want the rematch] but right now I wanna celebrate. I just made history for Mexico.”
Andy Ruiz Jr said in his post-fight intervew.
Fans of the former heavyweight champion are not too happy about the outcome of last night’s fight, their boxing king being defeated by Ruiz.
Some have taken to twitter to share their reactions, even Deontay Wilder who Joshua was meant to fight this month before he was ruled out due to drug test took to his social media timeline to call Anthony Joshua’s career consisting of lies.

But Joshua in a good sportmanship’s spirit went over to Ruiz and congratulated him for a good fight and hope to have a rematch sometimes this year.
The night was definitely long and full of terror for Anthony Joshua who showed strong resilience in the fight but later gave in the sixth round. There’s definitely going to be a bounce back.
