The name SabiBoi is far fetched removed from the conventional and common stage names upcoming music acts stamp on themselves but creativity has a lot to do with it most of the time, the stage name, the appeal, the charisma, attitude, the talent, all these are usually the packaging and credibility a star must imbibe to prepare him or her for the spotlight.
Nigerian music industry is a billion yards away from what it used to be and portray, it has gone through rough patches, tough years and resilience but all these has paved way to what it is now, what it has become, the glowing beacon in the center of African continent and meteorite heading straight for the international chart, the glamorous and the witty-gritty stage every kids on the street want to be part of. Music in Nigeria is a thing of the street, street credibility and street poetry, tears-dreamy youths on the street who have spill a web of their hard knock life into poetry and melody rush to the near-by studio to record every strand of lyrics they have seen or experienced and this is what some or most musical tunes in Nigerian is all about. Today haderotakisblog.com caught up with our Street & Music star of the week, Emmanuel Omoniyi Akinwe aka SabiBoy. This 27 year old Ondo born Lagos resident is your classical quintessential of what Nigerian street & music is all about, you don’t get them rougher and talented than this. SabiBoy is a rising star and this young lad is not letting anything get in his way, his tenacity, his raw talent and the humility he shows anywhere or anybody he comes in contact with is one character that will shoot him to the top of his career.
SabiBoi who started his music path professionally in 2017 spoke to haderotakisblog about the journey so far in the Nigerian music entertainment and how he want to break the barrier of mainstream music in the country. He recently released his new single titled “ORILOMO” and this young lad got a lot of talent in his bucket of dreams. Orilomo has been aired in some reputation radio stations and it is enjoying some good reviews. Sabiboi genre of music is hard to dictate but you can hear a mixture of hip-hop, afrobeat and a mild reggae sensation in the beat. When SabiBoy hooked up with Ice Beats, the producer with the Midas touch everything else just clicked into the right keys and the song they worked on together came out like a brand new day.
They say music is the food to soul but that depends on the type of music that makes your heart beat, what’s your boombox? In a world of different genre of music and some are even not yet classified but music has really be a part of our civilization for as long as human has been in existence. SabiBoi is music tells us the story of the struggle, the tenacity of the Nigerian youth, the bucket of dreams they all have, the poetry in their music and the future they all hoping for, this is what SabiBoi music is preaching and that’s the reality of the moment.
