Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, and son of afrobeat inventor and legend, Fela Kuti, will perform at the 61st edition of the Grammy Awards for the premiere ceremony.
Seun, who took after his father as an afrobeat musician, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, was nominated in the Best World Music Album for ‘Black Times’ category of the awards set to hold on February 10th 2019.

The prelude to Music’s Biggest Night will also feature performances by current nominated singer/songwriterSnatam Kaur, trumpeter Craig Morris and dance duoSofi Tukker. Nigerian Afrobeat artistSeun Kutiand Malian singer/songwriterFatoumata Diawarawill also perform together, andÁngela Aguilar,Aida CuevasandNatalia Lafourcadewill unite for the first time ever to perform “La Llorona,” a Mexican folkloric classic all three artists have recorded during their career.
An impressive list of presenters has also been announced to hand out the first GRAMMY Awards of the day, including current nomineesLzzy Haleof Halestorm,Kalani Pe’a,Questlove,Cécile McLorin Salvant,TOKiMONSTA, and former Recording Academy ChairJimmy Jam.”
We are wishing the energetic afrobeat star a very swell time at the awards and our prayers that he brings home the award for his category are with him.
This is not the first time the Fela boys are being nominated for the prestigious international awards but this is another milestone for Nigerian music and entertainment industry.
